A common question Justin and I have been hearing lately is, “How long will you be in Taiwan for?” That’s an interesting question. It seems simple, doesn’t it?
We don’t really foresee an end to our time in Taipei. We have; however, committed to two years with Envision. At the end of those two years, we will reevaluate everything, and then once again, make the right decision for our family.
Two years seems like a long time, but it’s not actually. I’m anticipating that it will take nearly a year to get fully comfortable with the culture and adjust to our everyday in Taiwan. We have a lot of changes coming up. We likely won’t be working our usual 8-5, we’ll solely be using public transportation to get around, we’ll be meeting loads of new people, and learning a new language! Plus, there’s all the things we haven’t even thought of yet.
We’ll be doing all of this while trying to help a tenacious toddler through it all as well. Luckily, Kennedy is probably the most adaptable out of the three of us.
So to answer the question, we don’t REALLY know how long we’ll be in Taipei. Justin and I have decided to look at it indefinitely. After two years, we’ll evaluate where we’re at in life. Ultimately God is the one that called us to Taiwan so really all we can do is keep moving forward until he calls us in a different direction.
